Flanagan State Bank Donates to Middle School
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flanagan, IL—Flanagan State Bank donated $32,000 to sponsor four classrooms at the new El Paso-Gridley Middle School that opened for students in late August 2022. While the El Paso-Gridley district had planned to reuse as much furniture as possible from the previous junior high building, the sponsorship helped ensure students truly started off the year in an exciting and fresh setting.
“Thanks to an extremely generous donation from Flanagan State Bank, you’ll see a sign outside of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math classrooms that say they are sponsored by Flanagan State Bank,” said Brian Kurz, superintendent of El Paso-Gridley Schools. “Inside those classrooms, you will see new furniture that they generously provided for our students and staff.”
A total of nine classrooms in the new middle school building were fully sponsored by those in the community, and a tenth classroom was partially sponsored. The building officially opened to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 25, 2022. Sponsorship placards outside the classrooms will remain for ten years to recognize the community investment of those who donated.
“The new El Paso-Gridley Middle School is a wonderful investment in our community and our local students,” said Audrey Harlan, president of Flanagan State Bank. “We’re grateful to be able to help support the efforts to give our students the best possible environment for learning.”
